Change I did not want
Change I did not want.
By authorizing off shore drilling President Obama has lost our trust. We, who so enthusiastically supported him, felt abused by his many compromises in health care reform. We feel completely betrayed by his reversal of his campaign promise. Does our president even understand the concept of honor and honesty? Is there any principle he would not forsake for his wish to build a legacy?
Why should we pay more to oil companies at the pump and risk our environment rather than pay an extra gas tax for funding alternative fuel sources? The cost will be the same to the consumer and the number of jobs created will be the same. The only difference is in the cost to the future of the world.
This is just another shameful surrender to the dominance drive, the wish to be seen as the great man rather than the good man. I still want change. I don’t want a black Bush with better articulation. We elected Barack Obama because he promised us he believed what we believe and that he would insist on a government that sought such ideals. He has already compromised many principles and has completely reversed his promise to not allow any costal oil and gas drilling. Why should we believe anything he tells us? The only principle he has steadfastly maintained is “win at any cost”. I am profoundly disappointed and disgusted. The change he promised turns out to be a change in his steadfastness to a change in the way the government works.
